Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Dejavu ("Dejavu", "we", "us", or "our") is a flashcards app that helps you create, organize, and study flashcards, including flashcards generated with artificial intelligence. The app is operated by Bulat Khairullin, an individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia, who is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
If you have any questions, contact us at khairullin.personal@gmail.com.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us:
- Account information. If you sign in, we receive your name and email address from Sign in with Apple. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we receive a private relay email address instead of your real email.
- Content you create. The flashcards you create or import (front and back text, descriptions), folders, and related notes.
- Materials you submit for AI features. Documents, photos, and images you choose to attach so that AI can generate flashcards or answers from them, and the prompts and instructions you provide.
- Support communications. Information you include when you contact us for help.
Information collected automatically when you use the app:
- Study and usage data. Your study progress, review history, and scheduling data, which the app uses to decide which cards to show you next and to improve.
- Device and technical data. Device model, operating system version, app version, and language and region settings. Your IP address is processed temporarily as part of normal network requests.
- Diagnostic data. Crash reports and performance data that help us find and fix problems.
- Identifiers. An account identifier we generate for you, and identifiers used to sync your data across your devices.
Using the app without an account. You can use Dejavu without signing in. In that case, your flashcards and study data are stored locally on your device and are not synced to our servers. If you later sign in, that data may be uploaded so it can sync across your devices.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, maintain, and operate the app, including syncing your flashcards across your devices;
- generate flashcards, answers, and related content using AI when you ask us to;
- personalize your study experience, for example by deciding which cards to show you next;
- diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure;
- improve the app and develop new features;
- respond to your requests and send you important information about the service;
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use the content of your flashcards or the materials you upload to show you advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. AI Features and Third-Party AI Processing
When you use AI features, the text you submit (your prompts, the materials you attach, and relevant flashcard text) is sent to Google's AI services (Google Cloud Vertex AI / Gemini) to generate the requested output. This processing:
- is carried out on secure, third-party infrastructure;
- is subject to Google's applicable terms and policies, including the Google Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy;
- does not, under Google's terms for this service, result in your content being used to train Google's models;
- may include automated checks intended to detect and block prohibited content.
AI-generated content is produced automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. You should review it before relying on it. Please do not submit content that is illegal or that you do not have the right to use. See our Terms of Service for the full list of prohibited uses.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us operate the app, such as cloud hosting and database providers (Supabase, PowerSync, Google Cloud Storage), the AI provider described above (Google Cloud Vertex AI), the sign-in provider (Apple), the subscription processor (RevenueCat), and the crash-reporting provider (Sentry). Service providers may use the information only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons, if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
- In connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will continue to protect your information and will notify you of any change in how it is handled.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We and some of our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Account and synced content is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → delete account). Deleting your account removes your synced flashcards and related content from our systems and revokes your Sign in with Apple connection. Limited information may be retained for a short period where necessary for security, abuse prevention, backups, or legal compliance.
- Materials you submit for AI features are retained only as long as needed to process your request and for a short period afterward, after which they are deleted.
- Diagnostic data is retained for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
- Data stored only on your device (when you use the app without an account, and local caches) remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can:
- edit or delete your flashcards and folders directly in the app;
- delete your account in the app, which deletes your synced content;
- contact us at khairullin.personal@gmail.com to make a request or ask a question.
We will respond to requests as required by applicable law. You can also control app permissions, such as photo access, through your device settings, and opt out of non-essential communications.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Dejavu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it. If you are between 13 and 18 (or the age of majority where you live), please review this policy with a parent or guardian.
9. Tracking and Advertising
Dejavu does not show third-party advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites for advertising purposes. We use only the data described in this policy to operate and improve the app.
10. International Users
We are based outside the United States, and your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where we and our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app. Your continued use of Dejavu after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
